GOLF OPERATIONS MEETING INFO!

  • Our Golf Shop recently won a prestigious award. More info to follow.
  • New unis - coats (full zip or half zip), shirts and hats are now available. See Chris.
  • Please DO NOT wear any part of your uni when playing golf on either course.
  • There is a Daily Event Sheet available at the Golf Shop counter.
  • The Front Sheet that used to be stapled to the Tee Sheet, detailing the weather, who was working, etc., will soon be reintroduced.
  • PAs are encouraged to call the Golf Shop to find out where problem areas are, the areas detaiiled in yellow and red on the large screen. Or the Starter can use an electric cart programmed in Marshal mode so that he can convey problem areas to the Marshal. On quiet days the Marshal can also use an electric cart instead of the gas cart.
  • PAs will be asked to help with Range Picks throughout the golf season.
  • There is a binder and three-hold punch in the office for completed Tee Sheets at the end of the day.
  • A list of all events and tournaments for this season will be posted on this website as soon as it is complete.

Stay tuned ....

A Day Fishing with Al, Torsten and Clayton

REQUEST FROM DARREN BURNS

Would the on course marshals please assist the greens department by doing the following:

  • Repair ball marks on greens especially par 3’s.
  • Pick up garbage laying around the course.
  • Straighten and repair on-course stakes and ropes.
  • And anything else that needs attention.

Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks ... Darren

STARTERS: PLEASE ASK FOR RECEIPTS!

It has come to the Golf Shop's attention that some golfers may not be paying to play.

Therefore please ask to see the golfers' receipts before allowing them onto the tee.

If there is a problem, send them back to the Golf Shop to get things sorted out.

When golfers check in, the Golf Shop will tell them that they must show their receipt to the Starter.

This doesn't include Members of course, or golfers that have the TA (Travel Agent) designation beside their name on the tee-sheet.

PAs are reminded to watch for cart damage

Things that may be on the radar could include:

  • Looking for white or rubbed tires (this indicates curb contact)
  • Alignment from behind and front
  • Screeching tires (bad driver = increased chances for damage)

Please report any cart damage or abuse to outside services as they are the main area responsible for noticing and dealing with the damage as they see and handle the carts much more than everyone else combined.

NEW RESPONSIBILITY FOR SATURDAY PA!

Randy would like the Saturday Marshals to start an hour earlier so that they can spend the first hour travelling the course and raking any footprints (human, deer, bear, cougar, whatever) that they see in the bunkers.

Ray Henry pointed out that the bunkers on Saturday are often in sad shape and they should be raked as Saturdays are our busiest time for resort and/or green-fees golfers.

The greens crew are much too busy on a Saturday to handle this task.

The posted July web schedule will be revised to show the starting time change and the individual PAs will be notified by email.

This is for Saturday only. We still only work six hours but will be starting earlier from Saturday, July 16 on.

EXPECTATIONS AND DUTIES!

As we all are the on-course representatives for Bear Mountain we need to re-inforce a few expectations and extra job duties.

MORNING PA'S:

  1. Ensure golf course is clean, i.e., garbages, litter etc., is picked up and disposed of.
  2. Signs, tables, any other items that might have been missed from previous night should be removed.
  3. Sand and seed bottles are refreshed.
  4. Course stakes should be upright, in place, and looking proper. If you see area where more may be required, take care of it as we have lots available.
  5. Ensure outhouse-style washrooms are clean and tidy and soap dispensers and toilet paper are available. The flush toilets on the Mountain course are NOT our responsibility. The toilet paper is available from Kurtis or Chris in Shipping and Receiving which is located in one of the offices near the staff room.
  6. Be sure all on-course GPS issues are reported to the shop.
  7. Clean out the Marshal cart and if needed, wash it at the facilities down by the gas pump, as visual presentation to our customers is very important.
  8. Check with the Pro-Shop for any additional tasks that may need attention.
  9. On Saturdays only, and until further notice, rake the bunkers.

AFTERNOON/EVENING PA'S:

  1. Communicate with Morning PA's and GOLF SHOP so you are on top of what's happening.
  2. Ensure all golfers have been talked to.
  3. Be sure all on-course GPS issues are reported to the shop.
  4. Courses are tidy, garbage and debris is picked up.
  5. Near the end of your shift make sure Starters Huts are secure and that the White Boards are inside.
  6. All the days signage, KP Markers, LD markers, tables, chairs and other are taken off the course.
  7. Check with the Pro-Shop for any additional tasks that may need attention.
  8. Give yourself enough time to clean out the Marshal cart and even wash it at the facilities down by the gas pump at the end of your shift, if needed.
  9. At the end of your shift park the Marshal carts between the pillars on the right hand side of the staging area near the Snack Bar window.

If you are scheduled for a GUN shift it is critical that you DO NOT leave until all GUN related duties are taken care of and make sure all KP/LD markers are brought in off the course.

It is the golf shops duty just as much as it is yours to make sure that this is done. Our event's depend on this attention to detail so that our customers, their guests and their employees, have the best possible time and they in turn want to come back each and every year!

WE ARE ALL ON DISPLAY WHEN GUESTS, GROUPS AND GOLFERS ARE AROUND. TREAT EACH AND EVERY GUEST AS IF THEY ARE YOUR OWN GUEST BECAUSE REALLY THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE.

Pass any suggestions or ideas that you have or you have received from customers to the Golf Shop. These ideas will be considered in hopes of improving our situation.

We all need to really focus on what we are doing and make sure we get the job done.

We know we can count on everyone one of us to give that extra bit.

PARKING WHEN AT WORK!

Remember staff parking is under Fairwinds or on the gravel lot behind the old Real Estate Office. The other gravel lots are for our customer's use only.
